Spark Ignition for Grills and Ovens

Gas grills and ovens put their burners inside a box or cabinet, so the igniter is often far from the flame. A grill igniter electrode or oven spark electrode solves this with a longer ceramic body, a bent tip that reaches the burner port, and a lead long enough to run through the appliance to the push-button, rotary or battery igniter.

These electrodes face grease, moisture, outdoor weather and high cabinet temperatures. We make them from 95% alumina ceramic with FeCrAl tips as standard, and choose a lead wire that suits the heat at your mounting point, from silicone rubber to PTFE or fiberglass-braided wire for the hottest areas.

  • Threaded, bracket or clip mounting
  • Long leads routed through grill bodies and oven cabinets
  • Supplied as matched replacements or designed into new models

Electrode Types We Make

Most grill and oven electrodes fall into four groups. Send us a sample or photos and we will match the right design.

Threaded-body electrodes

A ceramic body with a threaded metal sleeve, fixed with a nut through the burner bracket or oven floor so the tip height stays exact.

Typical use: Gas oven burners, broil burners and grill main burners.

Bracket-mounted grill electrodes

The electrode is fixed to a small metal bracket or collector box beside the burner, with the tip bent toward the gas port.

Typical use: BBQ grill burners, side burners and rotisserie burners.

Long-lead electrodes

Electrodes supplied with a long, factory-fitted lead and terminal, ready to route through the grill body or oven cabinet.

Typical use: Push-button, rotary and battery-powered grill igniters.

Commercial kitchen electrodes

Heavier ceramic bodies and high-temperature leads for burners that run for hours every day.

Typical use: Pizza ovens, fryers, griddles, salamanders and catering ranges.

Spark Electrode or Hot Surface Igniter?

Gas ovens use two different ignition systems, and the word “igniter” is used for both. We make spark ignition electrodes. We do not make hot surface igniters (glow bars), which are a different part made from silicon carbide or silicon nitride.

If your oven clicks when you turn it on, it uses a spark electrode. If it stays silent and a bar glows orange before the gas lights, it uses a hot surface igniter.

Oven & Grill Electrode FAQ

Do you make hot surface oven igniters?

No. We make spark ignition electrodes only. If your oven lights silently with a glowing bar, it uses a hot surface igniter, which is a different product.

Can you supply grill electrodes with a long lead for a battery igniter?

Yes. We fit the lead and terminal at our factory to the length and connector you need, so the electrode plugs straight into a push-button, rotary or battery igniter.

Which lead wire should I use near a hot oven or grill burner?

Silicone rubber leads suit most grill and cabinet areas. For mounting points close to the burner or inside a hot oven floor, PTFE or fiberglass-braided high-temperature wire is the safer choice. Tell us where the lead runs and we will recommend one.

Do you make electrodes for patio heaters and gas heaters?

Yes. Patio heaters and portable gas heaters use spark electrodes similar to grill electrodes, and we make them to drawing or sample.

What is the minimum order?

Simple, low-cost electrodes usually start at 50,000 pieces per model, while larger and more complex designs can be ordered in smaller quantities. See how we work for samples, tooling and order details.
