What a Gas Fireplace Igniter Electrode Does

In a gas fireplace, the push-button igniter or the control module creates a high-voltage pulse. The ceramic electrode carries that pulse to the pilot or main burner and releases it as a spark across a small gap, lighting the gas. It sits in the flame zone, so it has to hold its position and insulation through constant heating and cooling.

Fireplace electrodes are usually hidden behind logs, glass or a burner tray, so mounting and lead routing matter as much as the spark gap. We match each electrode to the burner layout and to the igniter you already use.

  • Twin-pin, single-pin and bracket-mounted designs
  • Leads routed from the burner to a piezo button or ignition module
  • Supplied as matched replacements or new OEM parts

Fireplace Electrode Types We Make

Most fireplace electrodes fall into four groups. Each one is adjusted to your burner and drawing.

Twin-pin electrodes

Two ignition pins set in one alumina body with a moulded mounting bracket, each pin with its own lead. The pin spacing is fixed by the ceramic, so the spark position repeats from unit to unit.

Typical use: Gas fireplaces and inserts with a dual-output spark module.

Pilot burner electrodes

A single-pin electrode fixed beside the pilot burner, sparking to the pilot hood or a ground point. A short ceramic and a precise gap keep pilot lighting reliable.

Typical use: Standing-pilot and intermittent-pilot fireplaces.

Bracket-mounted burner electrodes

The electrode is fixed to a bracket that bolts to the burner tray, keeping the tip at a set distance from the burner ports.

Typical use: Gas log sets, burner pans and linear fireplaces.

Long-lead electrodes

Electrodes supplied with longer silicone or fiberglass-braided leads that run from the firebox to a push-button igniter or control module outside it.

Typical use: Push-button piezo and battery-powered fireplace igniters.

Igniter, Sparker or Electrode?

A search for a gas fireplace igniter, a fireplace sparker or a gas log igniter can mean different parts of the same ignition system. The button or module makes the spark; the electrode delivers it at the burner.

We make the ceramic spark electrode. It works with the piezo button, battery pulse igniter or electronic module already in your fireplace, and we match the lead and terminal to it.

PartWhat it doesWhere it sits
Spark electrodeDelivers the spark at the pilot or burnerIn the firebox, next to the burner
Piezo igniter buttonMakes a spark when pressed, no power neededOn the control panel or gas valve
Battery pulse igniterSends repeated sparks from a batteryBehind the access panel
Electronic ignition moduleControls the spark and gas in sequenceBehind the access panel or under the unit

Gas Fireplace Electrode FAQ

Do you make the push-button igniter or ignition module?

No. We make the ceramic spark electrode that sits at the burner. It works with piezo buttons, battery pulse igniters and electronic modules, and we match the lead and terminal to the igniter you use.

Can you match the electrode in an existing fireplace?

Yes. Send the old electrode or clear photos with a ruler, plus the lead length and terminal type. We draw a matching part and confirm the drawing with you before making samples.

Which lead wire should I choose for a fireplace?

Silicone rubber leads rated 200–250 °C suit most fireplaces where the lead runs away from the hottest zone. Where the lead passes close to the flame or hot metal, fiberglass-braided high-temperature wire is the safer choice. Tell us the routing and we will recommend one.

Do you make electrodes for outdoor fire pits?

Yes. Fire pits and fire tables use spark electrodes similar to fireplace electrodes, and we make them to drawing or sample.

What is the minimum order?

Simple, low-cost electrodes usually start at 50,000 pieces per model, while larger and more complex designs can be ordered in smaller quantities. See how we work for samples, tooling and order details.
