What a Gas Stove Spark Electrode Does

Every burner on a gas stove, cooktop or hob has its own spark electrode, also called a stove igniter, hob sparker or gas stove spark plug. When the knob is turned, the igniter sends a high-voltage pulse to the electrode, which sparks across a small gap to the burner cap and lights the gas.

The electrode sits right beside the flame and is cleaned, knocked and splashed every day, so the ceramic, the electrode wire and the lead joint all need to hold up for years. We make each gas stove ignition electrode from 95% alumina ceramic with a heat-resistant FeCrAl tip, and match its height, spark gap and lead to your burner.

  • Works with piezo, battery pulse and mains spark igniters
  • Fits domestic stoves, built-in hobs, freestanding ranges and commercial cooktops
  • Supplied as a matched replacement or designed into a new model

Electrode Types We Make

Most gas stove and hob electrodes fall into four basic designs. Tell us which one you need, or send a sample and we will identify it for you.

Clip-in single-pin electrodes

A short ceramic body that snaps into a slot or spring clip under the burner, with the lead attached at the back.

Typical use: Domestic hobs and built-in cooktops with compact burner bases.

Nut-and-thread electrodes

A threaded metal sleeve on the ceramic body (for example M8, M10 or M12) fixed with a nut, for a firm hold and easy height adjustment.

Typical use: Freestanding ranges, cookers and commercial stove tops.

Bracket-mounted electrodes

The electrode is crimped or riveted to a metal bracket that screws onto the burner body, keeping the spark gap fixed.

Typical use: Wok burners, multi-ring burners and commercial ranges.

Electrodes with integrated leads

The lead wire and terminal are fitted at our factory, so the part plugs straight into the igniter or wiring harness.

Typical use: OEM assembly lines and replacement kits for distributors.

Gas Stove Electrode FAQ

Can you make a replacement for my gas stove igniter from a sample?

Yes. Send us the old electrode, or clear photos from several angles next to a ruler. We measure the ceramic, the electrode tip, the lead and the terminal, prepare a drawing for your confirmation, and make free samples to match.

Is a gas stove spark plug the same as a spark electrode?

Yes. “Spark plug”, “igniter”, “sparker” and “ignition electrode” are different names for the same part on a gas stove or hob: a ceramic-insulated electrode that sparks to the burner to light the gas.

Do your electrodes work with battery pulse igniters?

Yes. The electrode only needs to deliver the spark at the burner; it works with piezo, battery pulse and mains-powered spark modules. We match the lead and terminal to the igniter you use.

Can you supply electrodes for all burners on one cooktop?

Yes. Many cooktops use slightly different electrodes for the small, medium and wok burners. We can make each one to its own drawing and supply them together.

What is the minimum order for gas stove electrodes?

Simple, low-cost electrodes usually start at 50,000 pieces per model. More complex designs can be ordered in smaller quantities. See how we work for samples, tooling and order details.
